In July 2020, partially due to COViD19, Sommerville, Massachusetts, passed a city ordinance which effectively changed the definition of a domestic partnership to include more than two consenting adults. Its hard to underestimate the importance this could have on the legal status of polyamorous people and relationships in the USA. With its overwhelming positive reception, Cambridge, MA, is now considering following suit.
